Kelle's emotions few days before the 1st UK PEZ gathering...

Kelle's date for the
1st UK PEZ Gathering
is almost here.
We are happy to share again Kelle's emotions just few
days before the gathering is happening.
Kelle is allways super talented and creative, she did a WONDERFUL work with all the preparation and promotions on her first gathering.

Thank you Kelle for beeing a great
PEZ PAL, you will ROCK IT!
Enjoy every minute of your gathering, the day will be gone super fast! <3

Kelle's story
chapter 1 can be found here
chapter 2 can be found here

here we go with chapter 3

It's 2.40am,
and whilst I'm sitting here, waiting for some paint to dry, it's dawned on me; this time next week, it'll all be over!

For months now,
I've been working non stop trying to sort things for the
1st UK PEZ Gathering
and with less than a week left, it feels like I still have
the same amount of work left to do again!!
You know what it's like though, everything will come together all of a sudden.

I've been working on lots of very cool things for the gathering. I really want to show you all now, but I'm going to keep them as a surprise for the day.
As you may have seen though, I have unveiled one of my surprises today - my very own PEZ girls! I had a lot of fun making the outfits for them and really enjoyed taking some photos this morning to help promote the event.

Kelle`s own PEZ girls
Talking of promotion, I've plastered the "fine" city of Norwich with posters and flyers and on Tuesday I'm heading into the BBC radio station to do an interview!

posters at the city of Norwich

Promotion is key, or else I'll be hosting a gathering to me, myself and I. Where's the fun in that?!

When taking on the challenge of hosting an event like this, I don't think I quite realised what a mammoth task it would be to undergo all by myself. From the main things like sorting the PEZ to booking the venue right down to the silly things which I didn't really take into consideration like van hire and insurance, there is not one minute of the day
I'm not thinking of ways to make this gathering great.
HELLO BEAR will play @ the after party

You can't move in my house due to boxes, my bank balance is looking rather unhealthy and my eyes have bags under them, but I'm happy and super excited for next Saturday.

Looking forward to seeing some of you there!

Elmeri makes PEZ Headlines...

Our Friend Elmeri from Finland made it to an Interview in a Finish magazine Meidän perhe (our family)
Elmeri spoke about his beginning of PEZ Collecting back in 2001,
when he was 2 years old.

.

On vacation with his family in Greece he got his first PEZ dispenser.
It was Pikachu from the Pokemon assortment, which he still owns.

"Pikachu" Elmeri's first PEZ dispenser

He told also about dispenser prices in the shops
to PEZ Collectors
and about PEZ Conventions.
Elmeri was also one of our DISCO INFERNO Contest winner,
what he mentioned in his story too <3

It's allways great to see our friends in the news and promoting our hobby,
for maybe a future collector :)

With Val Miller @PEZMANIA 26....

Every year I would like to be a part of PEZMANIA as every PEZ Collector else.
Unfortunality again I was not able but we are so grateful for the opportunity to share with you Valerie Miller's report from the 26th annual PEZMANIA Convention.

Here we go...

Wednesday  -  Finally the day I leave for PEZamania is here. I'm up at 4 a.m. to head to the airport .  It was a long travel day, especially since Ohio is 3 hours ahead of Phoenix . By 6 p.m. I've landed collected my luggage and the shuttle get me to the hotel in time to see the start of the Pony Races. This is the first of many games played at PEZamania .

.

Since I just got there I was eager to get my registration package so I didn't stay for the game but headed to the registration room . I keep running into so many people I know from other conventions and the other 3 times I've been to Cleveland the rest of the evening just flew by.

Thursday - I got out and did some room hopping. Some of the people I ran into were :

Eddie " PEZ Hunter" Santiago , who did the logo for the convention

Eddie PEZ Hunter S

David Welch - iconic PEZ dealer and author of " Collecting PEZ "

John LaSpina -  another icon of our hobby and Author of " The PEZ Price Guide"

Chris Jordan - owner of PEZ Collectors Store and inventor of the best PEZ shoes ever made

Ruth and Tom,  Brian , Jeff, Robert , Phyllis, Jessica, Juan , Karen and Ivan , all long time PEZ friends.

Suddenly it's 7 pm and time for PEZ trading . Grabbed a few things and headed down. I like to have some 3.9 thin foot and some harder to find but inexpensive PEZ to trade with the kids. I like to think of them having so much fun they turn into serious collectors when they get older. I made some fun trades.

Dora Dwyer & Valerie Miller

After the trading I caught up with my friend of 19 years Megan Northrup and did some room hopping together. We chatted with Landon Proctor who created People of PEZ Collecting Trading Cards .

.

They were a big hit . Quite a few of the people on the first series were at PEZamania so there were a lot of people autographing their cards . Then we went to Shigeki's ( from Japan)  room and I got a couple sets of Bandai minis. It's been years since these were discontinued and are getting quite hard to find. Now I have 41 out of a total of 49 sets. So another day of PEZ fun came to an end .

Friday - Today is the day I am going to add 3 pieces to my collection I have been wanting for years and years. This year I decided to preview the available PEZ on Thursday and them think it over and get a couple of my dream PEZ . First I got a peach beak Cockatoo from John LaSpina and then I got the beautiful cobalt blue candy dish from David Welch.
.

It's my understand this dish was a Christmas present from PEZ USA to their customers in the 70s or 80s.

At PEZamania Friday night is when the main game is played ( this year similar to Bingo) plus there are silent and live charity auction in addition to all the raffle winners . One of the live auctions was a MOC PEZ Palz blog dispenser in the amazing custom box . It was won for $220.
After all these events there was more room hopping and catching up with more people. There are so many activities and people there it is impossible to do everything and see everyone, but it is sure fun trying.

Saturday- Is the day of the public show. I had a table so was set up at 8:30 a.m. in time for the registered attendees to get the first look. At 9 a.m. the walk-ins joined the ones already in. As usual more visiting with people I hadn't already seen and lots of PEZ talk.. after the show there was another auction for charity then those of us staying the night went off to dinner. About 9 p.m. there carnival games in ballroom and many people gathered in the lobby getting a few more hours of visiting and PEZ talk.  All to soon it's time to go to pack and sleep .

Sunday - It was an all day travel day to get home and go back to the real world. I'm looking forward to the next PEZ convention.
                                             Valerie Miller

At the end, we like to thank Val for her great report <3. and for sure Krissy and me would like to send a  thank you from here to Rick and Sue M. for all the hard work on the convention, all the amazing things they have done for the Gliding Stars, and to bring the PEZ family together.

With Weronica on the first Norwegian PEZ gathering...

We are happy to share with you Weronica’s experiences from the first Norwegian PEZ gathering.
.
Congrats to Kjersti, Thor and their family, as they did a wonderful job to bring PEZ collectors together on their gathering.

so here ere we go...

Wednesday night I'm so exited, have packed my bags with PEZ and some other stuff. Feeling ready for Norway! We went early to the bed, because we (my daughter Micaela and me) needed to get up very early in the morning to catch our plane.

Thursday...hello Norway
Of course we were on time and got our plane in Arlanda, but had to change in Oslo. At the airport in Haugesund Thor picked us up. At the hotel we met Kjersti, Ivan, Ron and the two youngest children of Kjersti and Thor, Tommy and Alice.

.
After hugs and some talks we went all together out for a trip, with cars to an old copper mine in Visnes. Unfortunately it was closed but it was really nice to see and the the view around it. We found a small Statue of Liberty and we learned the true story about the big one in US. All copper used for the Statue of Liberty in US is actually coming from Norway.

.
After the visit at the copper mine we stoped at a giant candy store and actually find some PEZ, yeah. Afterwards we visted a small town called Skudenshavn with some really old small houses. We walked around for a while and decided to have dinner at a restaurant. After the dinner we went back to the hotel and talked more about PEZ and some more PEZ.

Friday..ready for the Vikings..raining morning, after breakfast we all walked to a shopping centre near the hotel. After that Kjersti and Thor took us on a bus ride to a very old Viking area in Avalosnes. It stopped raining but it was very windy.
We had a guide who showed us a very old church, an authentic Viking area and a Viking museum. Lots of walk in great nature and it felt very special to walk at such an historical land.

.

.

.
Then after the Viking tour we all went to Kjersti and Thor's place for a super dinner. They live at the most beautiful place ever, what a view from their house, wow, wow or as Ron said “ If I lived here I would sit on this armchair with a binoculars and just look at the nature all day long”. And of course we got a chance to take a look at their PEZ room. I got speechless I can only say wow, wow, wow. One of the best PEZ room I have ever seen. Really looking so lovely, lots of PEZ great displayed in showcases.

After that great dinner, really yummy dessert and a lot of nice PEZ talk, Thor took Ivan, Micaela and me to an even greater place, called Fjaera. Never seen anything like this. It was one of the coolest waterfalls we have ever seen and the nature around it was outstanding. We just stood there, our mouth opened, and just couldn’t find any words.
.

Saturday...the PEZ gathering...woke up, had the breakfast with nice company by Ron and Ivan. Then we got to the room of the gathering and settled up our tables. I always enjoy it to see what nice PEZ stuff the others have. The goodie bag was also great; Kjersti and Thor did a great work with it. The day went really fast by, very busy selling, trading and buying.

After lunch there was a lot of games for both, children and adults with a lots of great prices. In the afternoon it was time for the highlight of the day, the Bingo! Tons of fun and super great prices. I was lucky to win twice and my daughter ones, yeah. The day ended with a super cake made by Kjersti and Thors daughter Mona (the Queen of cake), super good looking and very delicious too.

After the gathereing  all of us were very tired, but happy and feeling great and satisfied. We went for a nice dinner to a restaurant near by the hotel. Surprisingly it started to rain a whole lot but it also had a good thing because the restaurant gave us free rain ponchos.

Kjersti and Thor have been great hosts and they managed to arrange a very great gathering. This was the first one ever in Norway and I really hope they will continue to arrange more gatherings in the future.

Now we are back home again and counting the days till the Swedish PEZ gathering on the 24th September, and hope to see many of you in Stockholm.

                                                    Adjö from Weronica J

Thank you Weronica for your great report
and the pictures <3
