I vividly recall the autumn of 2007 when the two iconic
Mozart and Sissi
PEZ dispensers
made their grand debut alongside
the trio of Mickey Mouse dispensers,
marking PEZ's 80th anniversary.
The unveiling sparked a frenzy within the PEZ community
as enthusiasts scrambled to acquire these
coveted dispensers, which were fetching
exorbitant prices on eBay at the time.
Securing these dispensers proved to be
a challenge even in Austria,
where they were exclusively available
through Confisserie Heindl.
Each new shipment would vanish from
shelves in a blink, perpetuating the scarcity
and escalating demand.
Fast forward to 2008, and the reemergence
of the Mozart and Sissi dispensers as special
editions for the NH Hotel Group,
accompanied by the NH Pal Boy on card,
added another layer of exclusivity.
Adorned with the NH Hotel insignia, these
dispensers were solely distributed in
NH Hotels in Vienna and Salzburg,
becoming prized possessions within the
collecting community, fetching values of $100-150.
In a delightful turn of events,
PEZ revived the beloved Sissi and Mozart
dispensers in 2017, presenting them in a
charming "I Love Austria" gift box.
Wunderkinder, the creative minds behind many
PEZ projects, generously allowed the public
a glimpse into the production process through
a captivating video showcasing the making
of the Sissi and Mozart PEZ gift box.

With the lifting of Corona restrictions
and the resurgence of travel and tourism,
PEZ's decision to reintroduce these iconic
dispensers (same mold) is a welcomed one.
Accompanying the revival is a splendid
new PEZ blister card adorned with quintessential
Austrian motifs such as the famous
Sacher cake, apple strudel, Vienna landmarks,
the violin, SKI, and the gentian flower,
all complemented by the endearing
"I love Austria" heart.
For collectors and travelers seeking a
quintessential Austrian souvenir,
the availability of these dispensers on the
iconic blister card is indeed a cause for celebration.
They will soon be accessible in key tourism
destinations across Austria.
A small number of the
Sissi PEZ dispenser will be also offered in
PEZ European Online Store.
